where young couples would come to announce their engagement and wedding
plans to the rest of the community.
Musicians would come from far and wide to play at these "socializers"
in the hope of being asked to play at a couple of weddings,
for a fee, of course.
Socials
today are just as popular as ever. Most newly engaged couples host a
social a few months prior
to their wedding day and today's DJ's are the main source of
entertainment.
